Tour Itinerary

In this tour you will visit the most famous and beautiful volcanoes of Kamchatka: Avachinsky, Mutnovsky and admire craters of Gorely volcano. During the rafting on the picturesque Bystraya river, you will observe the inhabitants of the wild nature of Kamchatka bears, and you will be able to fish on char. Visit a variety of natural thermal springs: Dachnye, Verkhne-Paratunsky, Malkinsky. Take a boat trip along Avacha Bay, and if you wish and the weather permits, visit the famous Valley of Geysers. The most difficult ascent in this program is – to the Avachinsky volcano, however, if you are not confident in your abilities, the ascent can be replaced with a walk to Mount Camel – on this day the group will be divided into two subgroups.

Day 1. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Paratunka
Meeting at the airport of Elizovo, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Meeting with a representative.
Transfer to the Paratunskaya sanatorium-resort area (40 min.).

Departure with all things in an off-road vehicle to the volcanic plateau at the foot of the Mutnovsky volcano (120 km). On the way, we stop at the Zaykin Klyuch stream (Silver Stream), at the Vilyuchinsky pass. If road and weather conditions permit, a walking tour to the Natural hot springs (3 km, 2 hours) is possible. Setting up a tent camp. Night in tents.

Day 3. Mutnovsky volcano – canyon and waterfall Dangerous (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
We drive to the Mutnovsky volcano along a difficult road. We begin our ascent (the height of the volcano is 2323 m, ascent to 1650 m, about 1.5-2 hours). Rather, this ascent can be called a walk through very picturesque places, which are a kind of " visiting card '' Kamchatka.
Mutnovsky Volcano is a natural monument, which is located partly on the territory of the South Kamchatka Natural Park, which was included in 1996 in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List in the nomination " Volcanoes of Kamchatka ''. Two hours of walking along the trail without steep elevation changes, at the end of which you will have the opportunity to look into the smoking crater of the volcano and, what is important, sit " on horseback '' on its edge. Unlike rafting, there will be a lot of people here, you may even have to queue a little to get to the edge of the crater.
Mutnovsky Volcano – the most popular volcano because of the easy climbing accessible to people of all ages and the interesting vivid spectacular views during the ascent. The crater of the Mutnovsky volcano itself is quite deep, with high walls, but from the north-west it has a rift, where the Vulkannaya River flows. The river is hidden by a glacier, along which the trail passes. If we are lucky, we will meet real faults – deep cracks in the ice. Along the path to the crater, we will see a lot of fumaroles smoking from crevices and small cones of native sulfur, a bubbling mud boiler, boiling and gushing geysers. And from the eastern walls of the crater to the very bottom, a glacier descends, pressing on the fumarole field – there is a struggle between the elements of ice and fire. In terms of beauty and uniqueness, this place is in no way inferior to the famous Valley of Geysers!
On the way back, another spectacle awaits us: the Vulkannaya River falls from a height of 80 meters into the Dangerous canyon with a powerful waterfall.
Return to camp. Night in tents.

Day 4. Gorely volcano – Verkhne-Paratunsky hot springs – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (breakfast, lunch)
After breakfast we will drive to Gorely volcano. The path to the summit usually takes no more than 2.5-3 hours, the height of the volcano is 1829 m, the ascent starts from about 1000 m). The path to the top is a little more difficult than on the Mutnovsky volcano, but here a completely different landscape opens up in front of the traveler, formed by black slag and flows of black lava, for their color the volcano got its name.
Gorely has several craters, the most impressive of which is – these are the Blue Lake and Active craters. Both craters are funnels with steep walls. The first crater is the largest and lives up to its name – at the bottom there is a lake of bright blue color. In Aktivny crater there is a small acidic lake of turquoise color with a greenish tint, along the shores of which they " smoke '' powerful fumaroles.
Having examined the craters, we go down to the car. On the way: visiting the Verkhne-Paratunsky hot springs.

Practical advice for travelers in Kamchatka

Traveling in Kamchatka is unique due to its geographical isolation, small population and the fact that the status of a closed territory was removed from it relatively recently.
To make your trip safe and enjoyable, take note of our tips:

1. Staying in the wild:
Kamchatka is a huge uninhabited territory, the population of which is concentrated in several cities and towns. The landscape and climate variability should be taken seriously.

2. Choose the right clothes:
The weather can be damp and cold. A waterproof jacket, pants (overalls) and a hat can come in handy if the weather turns for the worse. Then gloves, thick socks and a warm sweater will become your true friends. When hiking in remote wilderness, be prepared to meet many rivers, so stock up on shoes that will keep your feet dry in all conditions. Also, do not forget that a slippery sole on steep slopes – a straight path to an accident.

3. The rule for wild animals:
Remember that animals appeared here earlier, they – interesting subject to watch while you don't disturb them. Prepare for how you will react when you meet an inquisitive, intelligent and potentially dangerous beast in a remote area - bear.

4. Wildlife travel:
If you are hiking in a nature park, register your itinerary with the Kamchatka Natural Parks Directorate, a local travel company or the hotel where you are staying. Don't travel alone. Going to volcanoes, do not forget to grab a couple of sticks – They will help keep your balance as you climb slippery slopes or traverse snowy fields that never melt on some volcanoes.

5. On the money:
Credit card payments are not accepted in most shops and hotels, but there are ATM machines that accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards. Banks also operate cash transfer system Western Union. In addition to your card, you must have your passport with you.

6. Public transport:
Buses operate from 7.00 to 21.00. Private minibuses also operate on city routes. Flights from Petropavlovsk to Kozyrevsk and Esso are carried out daily with stops in Elizovo and Milkovo. Tickets are sold at the bus stations in Petropavlovsk and Elizovo, on Komsomolskaya Square in Petropavlovsk. Minibuses travel along the routes of Elizovo – Petropavlovsk, Elizovo – Paratunka with stops along the way.

7. Security issues:
Kamchatka – one of the safest places in Russia. However, when visiting cities and towns, take all the safety measures as when traveling in any big city.
